Estimated Total Remuneration Package: R307,686 – R414,924 per annum
Purpose of the Role:
To support environmental maintenance by operating specialized equipment such as mechanical stump grinders and chippers for the upkeep of trees along road reserves, parks, traffic islands, and other City-owned developed and undeveloped open spaces in Region 6. The role contributes to environmental quality and public service delivery.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 10 qualification
- Relevant experience as a professional truck driver
- Valid Code EC1 (EC) driver’s licence
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
- Physically fit and in good health
- Must undergo a criminal background check and consent to fingerprinting by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost
- Willing and able to work shifts as required
Personal Attributes and Competencies:
- Capable of performing physically demanding operational and maintenance tasks for extended periods
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and within a team
- Strong communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and manage all allocated vehicles and equipment efficiently
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993)
- Prepare designated sites for new developments
- Safely operate and maintain mechanical stump grinders and chippers in accordance with operating manuals
